February 8 - Slovenian Cultural Day
On the occasion of Slovenian Cultural day, the Permanent Mission of Slovenia to the UN in New York organized a concert on Friday, February 8 at the premises of the ambassador's residence, attended by numerous guests from the diplomatic and Slovenian community in New York and American guests.
Ambassador Darja Bavdaž Kuret in her welcoming remarks highlighted the importance of culture in establishing Slovene national identity and the preservation of its identity. She recalled that the Slovenian anthem Zdravljica tells an important message of friendship among all nations and calls for freedom and peace for all the people around the globe.
Slovenian artists, who live and work in New York, performed at the event, including singer Ajda Stina Turek together with vibraphonist Vid Vidornik and singer Kristina Rajgelj together with keyboardist Ryan Slatka. They presented numerous songs from the rich Slovenian and American repertoire.
