Prime Minister Marjan Šarec leads Slovenian delegation at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia Mr. Marjan Šarec leads the Slovenian delegation at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly. The delegation also includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Miro Cerar and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This week began a day earlier than usual with the Climate Action Summit convened by the UN Secretary-General Guterres, to present and make concrete commitments of countries to prevent and stem the effects of climate change. Activities related to this summit had already taken place all weekend before, with a special youth climate summit on Saturday 21 September.
At the same time as the general debate that began on Tuesday, September 24, there are a number of high-level meetings convened by the President of the General Assembly at the initiative of the Member States. On Monday, September 23, the High Level Session on Universal Health Coverage was convened and attended by the Mr. Aleš Šabeder, Slovenian Minister of Health. On Tuesday and Wednesday, a meeting is called on development goals, where Prime Minister Šarec will also speak at one of the panels. This week will conclude with a meeting on small islands developing states, which are particularly and most affected by climate change.
Both the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister will have a number of other activities this week, both inside and outside the UN (World Economic Forum, Bloomberg Forum, development goals campaign, EU meetings, Transatlantic meeting) and bilateral talks with other leaders. Prime Minister will deliver his speech at the General Assembly on Friday, September 27.
